This publication is devoted to works by young people from a painting competition held by the Circus Krone, Munich, in 1958. The extraordinary depictions are a “monument to traditional circus culture”, a pictorial legacy of the then still young post-war generation aged between 12 and 16 years. The subject of the circus interested and inspired them. It was still the heyday of the popular circus world, with its legendary dressage acts and famous wild animal tamers, whose great transformation only began later. In addition, lines of connection to the artist and circus performer Alexander Camaro (1901 – 1991) are shown. New aspects for historical youth drawing research as well as for circus research are contoured.
